Margaret Pritchett

From Peggy Shaffer:

Page 162: Marget Diamond. March 3, 1818. *Prb. May 1819.

Sons: John Diamond, Steward Diamond. Grandson David Harrell. Granddaus: Marget D. Webb & Rhoda Webb - one beadestead Bed and furniture and one Heifer Yearling to be lodged in hands of their Uncle Thomas Webb in Guilford County. Whereas my daus Sarah Webb & Rachel Harrel both dec'd had at their marriage their full dowry it is my will that their husbands Fred D. Webb & Stephen Harrel have no more than Five Shillings.

Exr: Brother Jeremiah Pritchett. Wit: Alexander Nichels. H. Thompson.

Again this was copied from a typed book. Again someone said the actual will has Dred, not Fred Webb.

She the daughter of DRED WEBB & SARAH DIAMOND. Rhoda & sister Margaret D. (Peggy) were mentioned in the will of Sarah Diamond's mom. Sarah Diamond's parents were STEWART DIAMOND SR. & wife #2 MARGARET PRITCHETT. a book I purchased on the Diamond/Dimond family has Sarah Diamond/Dimond born 1782, died 1817, married D.D. Webb.

STEWART SR. died 1792 & wife Margaret Pritchett Diamond will dated 1818.

Now to add more confusion, in the 1810 Rockingham Co., N.C. census. Dred Webb & wife alone with no kids yet. I found on internet birthdate for their daughter Margret as Feb. 2, 1805 & other daughter Rhoda that married Schoolfield born Dec. 3, 1807 but not with them in 1810 census. But grandma Margaret Pritchett who is over 45 years old in 1810 census has 2 under the age of 10 girls in that census. Looks like Dred's wife Sarah Diamond, the mother of Margret & Rhoda must've died before 1810 when girls were little & Dred remarried. For the 1820 census, after the death of Margaret Diamond, perhaps they moved back with their dad Dred. He since had 2 males born under the age of 10 as well as 2 females born under the age of 10. I lost Dred after that 1820 census, either he died or migrated with the younger kids.

Also found in "Patrick Dimond/Diamond/Dimon Eighteenth Century Migrant a Survey of his American Descendants" by E. Grey Dimond, M.D." a book I found on internet & bought for $20 & so worth the money. In the chapter dedicated to Stewart Diamond & his family has " A Short History of the Pritchett Family. (Maryland Genealogies, Vol. 2, p. 294) <-- I already told you about above. Apparently there is an update by Coley M. Pritchett, 1964, p. 10 (I don't have but will copy from the book).

"Peggy Pritchett (Margaret) m. Steward Dimont and settled in Rockingham Co. She was one of ten children of Joseph Pritchett and his wife Rachel. Her brother Billy married Peggy Taylor nee Peggy Dimont.(Peggy's first husband was Josiah Taylor), in Guilford Co. Her father migrated to the Rockingham Co., N.C. in 1775 from Dorchester Co. Md. The land he bought was on the north side of the Haw River. Joseph Pritchett lived in the same area in Mc. and was hired by Mr. Allums to drive one of his wagons to Rockingham Co. Upon the marriage of Joseph and Rachel, he bought land on the south side of the Haw River. Joseph and Rachel were buried at the old Haw River Presbyterian Church, date not known."
